Regain The Magic...
William Corey's Psychodynamic Entertainment
-Pricing F.A.Q. -
Over the years, William Corey has received several requests for pricing worded similarly to the following example...
" Having a party, looking for a (xxxxxx) to do something for an hour on (date), Tell me your price A.S.A.P. "
Let’s face it - it's easy for one to fire off an e-mail or call stating the briefest of information, expecting to have their wish granted. Likewise, the easiest thing in their world for an entertainer / agency to do would be to rattle off some “generic-style” pricing in hopes of gaining a quick sale (assuming that date is available). Sadly, it seems that many performers / agencies, perhaps caring more about their bank account or being busy, will look for the quickest and easiest path to achieve their goal.
Regrettably, such a message or response that gives into such a request does little but force you (the prospective buyer / client) to pay for things not needed for your particular situation. Adversely, such might force an entertainer into taking on a situation they are ill-equipped to handle, or they might cut corners (often in noticeable ways) just to provide a low price.
After you have decided to book an entertainer based upon the price quoted, they might conclude that their quote was too low, and when doing so “reserve the right” to solicit for and accept tips / pitch their own promotional items during the show / sell such items before and / or after the performance (when it should be the client who decides how their guests will be treated in regards to a performer supplementing their income during an event in which they are paid to work). In these cases, the price may be low, but the cost can be great.
William knows the value of your entertainment dollar, so his fees are based upon your actual entertainment needs, selection(s), desires and other factors, which help keep your cost as low as possible. The responses provided to his form do two things - the first is to make sure you have a general idea of important things most don't consider until the last minute. The second is to be able to communicate your reasons, desires and conditions for the event, to better nail down your needs.
Note: When in the planning / discussion stage with an entertainer or agency, often times your willingness to answer questions about the proposed engagement as accurately and completely as possible (note: city and state of the actual performance location, and not the entire address is often more than acceptable at this stage), and your consideration of any advice given, may lead you into discovering something that might better suit your needs and / or budgeting constraints. As such, the quote given may differ from the final price.
